Role Overview

A mission-driven FQHC in Santa Cruz County is seeking an Associate Chief Medical Officer (ACMO) to support clinical leadership across 11 primary care clinics. The ACMO will maintain a small outpatient patient panel while actively contributing to quality improvement, provider support, and operational leadership.

This role is ideal for a physician with leadership potential, experience in quality initiatives, and comfort working across Family Medicine, Pediatrics, and Women’s Health teams.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide clinical leadership and support across departments

  • Assist the CMO with system-wide medical and administrative duties

  • Contribute to the monthly CMO report for the Board of Directors

  • Participate in provider recruitment and retention

  • Supervise or assist with the peer review committee

  • Support COO and clinic managers to optimize patient flow

  • Train providers/staff and help coordinate in-service education

  • Attend leadership, QA/QI, administrative, and management meetings

  • Collaborate with senior leadership to implement programs improving primary care

  • Assist in developing clinical quality measures

  • Maintain professional licenses, CPR certification, and CA driver’s license

  • Foster a culture of excellent communication, empathy, and patient-centered care

  • Uphold organizational mission and values

Compensation & Benefits
  • Salary: $316,511.09 – $342,601.78 (DOE & FTE)

  • Sign-on/Retention Bonus: Up to $30,000

  • 50% at hire, 25% after year 1, 25% after year 2

Relocation Assistance: Up to $10,000
