Join a dynamic team at St. Alexius Health Dickinson as a Pediatric Locum Physician and provide critical care to children in a vital rural healthcare setting. This role offers the opportunity to work in a Level II nursery within a Critical Access Hospital, supporting both labor and delivery and pediatric inpatient services. Your expertise will directly impact patient outcomes through high-quality care, including attending vaginal deliveries, C-sections, neonatal resuscitations, circumcisions, and managing pediatric patients in a collaborative environment.
We are seeking a dedicated physician who thrives in a fast-paced, rural hospital setting and is committed to providing exceptional pediatric care. Enjoy a flexible schedule with 7 days of coverage per month, mainly during 24-hour call shifts, and the chance to make a meaningful difference in a tight-knit community.

Required Skills:
- Active and unrestricted medical license in North Dakota or ability to obtain
- Board certification or eligibility in Pediatrics
- Proven experience in neonatal and pediatric critical care procedures: circumcisions, newborn resuscitation, intubation, UVC placement, lumbar punctures
- Ability to manage acute pediatric cases confidently
- Strong documentation skills and familiarity with Meditech EMR
- Excellent communication and team collaboration skills
Nice to Have Skills:
- Experience working in rural or Critical Access Hospital settings
- Prior involvement in labor and delivery or nursery care
- Additional certifications: NRP, PALS, BLS
- Bismarck NICU consulting experience
Preferred Education and Experience:
- MD or DO degree from an accredited institution
- Minimum of 2 years of pediatric inpatient or nursery experience
- Prior locum or rural hospital experience preferred
Other Requirements:
- Travel arrangements from the provider’s location to Dickinson, ND; travel support preferred
- Valid DEA registration and hospital credentials; must obtain emergency privileges for start date
- Availability to work the specified dates with ongoing coverage into 2026
- Ability to work in a team with nursing staff, anesthesia, OB-GYN, respiratory therapists, and consulting pediatricians
Compensation:
- Hourly pay rate: Competitive hourly rate commensurate with experience
- Support staff includes experienced nursing and nursery teams, with access to NICU consults in Bismarck
- Malpractice insurance included; orientation rate of $140 per hour after 8 hours; on-call rates and holiday call back rates apply as specified
