Position Overview
Seven consecutive days of 24-hour nursery call coverage supporting a community hospital in Manning, SC. Provider will handle newborn nursery, attend C-sections on request, and perform circumcisions.
Orientation is a mandatory half-day on a weekday before the first shift (not weekends or holidays).
Pay ranking: top 15% versus typical pediatrics locum rates in the Southeast due to holiday week and 24-hour coverage premiums.
$15,000 plus.
Assignment Highlights

Seven consecutive 24-hour pager call days (nursery/newborn focus)

Average 2–3 patients per day; C-section attendance as requested

Must be able to perform circumcisions

Mandatory half-day on-site orientation (billable) prior to the first shift

Holiday coverage included (Thanksgiving)

Travel prepaid; malpractice provided by HPA Healthcare

Job Responsibilities

Provide 24-hour nursery call coverage, including newborn admits, routine care, and discharges

Attend C-sections on request and manage neonatal resuscitation per hospital protocol

Perform circumcisions and document procedures per policy

Respond to ED/neonatal consults related to newborns as needed

Communicate with OB/L&D, ED, anesthesia, and nursing teams

Escalate to NICU transfer pathways when indicated

Complete documentation in the facility EMR and ensure clean handoffs
Skills & Experience
-
Board Certified or Eligible in Pediatrics

Active South Carolina medical license, CSR, and DEA (registrable in SC)

Recent inpatient newborn/nursery call experience

Comfortable with C-section attendance and circumcisions

Able to meet mandatory weekday orientation prior to first shift
