Employment Type: Locum Tenens – Call Coverage
Start Date: January 2026 (ongoing)
Location: NV
### Opportunity Highlights
• Call-only assignment at Northeastern Nevada Regional Hospital (25-bed med-surg and 7-bed ICU) with no clinic duties.
• 30-minute response time required; beeper call with typical call volume of 2–3 phone consults and 1-2 admissions per 24-hour period.
• Specific call blocks include January 1 (07:00)–January 9 (22:00), January 29 (07:00)–February 6 (22:00), and February 8 (13:00)–February 13 (22:00).
• Support staff includes RN, MA and NP/PA; EMR: MEDHOST; travel via Elko Regional Airport with lodging recommendations at Home2 Suites by Hilton and TownePlace Suites by Marriott.
• Two providers needed; decision deadline November 1, 2025; major holidays observed (New Year’s Day, Memorial Day, 4th of July, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas).
### Licensure & Requirements
• Board Eligible/Board Certified in Pediatrics (fellowship preferred but not required).
• Active Nevada license or Interstate Medical Licensure Compact (IMLC) license.
• Current PALS and NRP certifications.
• Competence in neonatal and pediatric ventilation management (non-invasive and invasive), intubations, conscious and deep sedation, placement of central and arterial lines, UVC/UAC, lumbar puncture, paracentesis, thoracentesis, chest tube insertion, needle decompression, x-ray & EKG interpretation, suturing minor lacerations, circumcision, and exchange transfusion.
• Must be comfortable providing Level II nursery and pediatric inpatient care, responding within 30 minutes, and working collaboratively with existing staff.

Job Responsibilities
• Respond to phone consults and admission requests within 30 minutes, documenting in MEDHOST EMR.
• Perform neonatal and pediatric resuscitation, ventilation management, intubations, conscious and deep sedation, and line placements (central, arterial, UVC/UAC) as needed.
• Carry out procedures such as lumbar puncture, paracentesis, thoracentesis, chest tube insertion, needle decompression, suturing minor lacerations, circumcision, and exchange transfusion.
• Manage ventilator settings and collaborate closely with nursing and advanced practice staff to provide safe, timely patient care.
• Participate in multidisciplinary communication and provide handoff to ensure continuity of care.
Qualifications
• Board Eligible or Board Certified in Pediatrics and able to obtain/maintain hospital privileges.
• Active Nevada medical license or Interstate Medical Licensure Compact (IMLC) license with willingness to start January 2026.
• Valid PALS and NRP certifications.
• Demonstrated proficiency in neonatal and pediatric ventilation management, intubation, sedation, and line/bedside procedures.
• Ability to respond to call within 30 minutes and communicate effectively with care teams; experience using MEDHOST or similar EMR is ideal.
