Location: Kayenta, AZ (Kayenta Health Center, Inscription House Health Center, Dennehotso Health Station)
Position Type: Locum/Contract | Flexible Duration (13 weeks โ 1 year, with possible extensions)
Schedule: Full-Time (40 hours per week) Paid Weekly!
๐ About the Opportunity
The Navajo Area Indian Health Service (NAIHS) is seeking a mission-driven Pediatric Physician to provide high-quality, culturally sensitive care to children and families across the Kayenta Service Unit. This is a unique opportunity to serve one of the largest Native American populations in the U.S. while working in a collaborative, supportive clinical environment.
๐งธ Key Responsibilities

Provide outpatient and inpatient pediatric care, including diagnosis, treatment, and referrals

Manage acute illnesses, chronic conditions, immunizations, urgent care, and emergencies

Offer preventive care, anticipatory guidance, and limited nutritional/behavioral counseling

Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure coordinated care
-
Maintain accurate documentation in the electronic health record (EHR)

Adhere to IHS, CMS, Joint Commission, and facility-specific standards

Participate in quality improvement initiatives and staff meetings
โ Qualifications

Completion of an approved Pediatric residency
-
Board Certified or Board Eligible in Pediatrics (ABMS/AOA)

Active, unrestricted medical license in any U.S. state

Current DEA registration and Arizona PDMP enrollment

BLS and ACLS certification (PALS preferred)

Experience with EMR/EHR systems

Must meet immunization and health requirements prior to start

Background check, fingerprinting, and security clearance required
