Successful candidates will interact with an interdisciplinary team of health care professionals working in Level 1 and Level 2 nursery settings. We offer competitive compensation and excellent benefits. Shift coverage 7 on/7off, 5 on/9 off to include at least one weekend a month for a total of 156 shifts annually. A "shift" is twenty-four hours in length consisting of eight hours of clinical services onsite and sixteen hours of unrestricted call coverage.

  • Round on well newborn & level 2 NICU
  • Attend high risk deliveries; Neonatologist backup available with advance notice for early preterm deliveries.
  • 7days on/7days off followed by 5 days on/9days off for a total of 156 shifts annually.
  • Average census: 10-15 patients per day.
  • Post-rounding, Hospitalist takes unrestricted call.
  • Collaborate with Neonatologists at nearby USA Health Children’s and Women’s Hospital for consults.
  • Participate in medical staff and quality assurance meetings as needed.
  • BC/BE in Pediatrics
  • Maintain NRP certification
  • Prior experience in newborn care is preferred

As a Newborn Pediatric Hospitalist, you will complete initial assessments/evaluations of newborn patients while providing ongoing monitoring of patients' medical conditions and providing appropriate treatment. Order prescription medications and diagnostic procedures while authorizing and coordinating all specialty/ancillary services. Maintaining a consultative relationship with nurses, social workers, staff clinic nurses, rehab staff and other team members is expected. Participating in the development of such programs as preventive health screenings, immunization programs, professional community outreach, quality assurance and others is required.
