Pediatrician Needed at Fort Hood in Killeen, Texas

Location: Carl R. Darnall Army Medical Center, Fort Hood, Texas (outpatient clinic).

Schedule: Typically, Monday – Friday, between the hours of 6:00 AM – 9:00 PM

Requirements:

  • Active and unrestricted Medical License in any State
  • Graduates of foreign medical schools are required to possess both a medical license and other certification by the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG) or 5th Pathway.
  • Board Certified by the American Board of Pediatrics
  • Must have a minimum of two (2) years experience within the last three (3) years as a staff Pediatric physician
  • Experience in outpatient setting is preferred
  • Active DEA Registration
  • Active BLS and ACLS Certification

Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Responsible for maintenance of the highest standards of professional care in the treatment of patients and in the clinical teaching and training of residents and technicians.
  • Prepare and document appropriate history, physical examinations and diagnosis. Maintain documentation of all treatment provided in accordance with hospital directives and prepare such records and reports as may be required by the contract. Ensure all documentation and reports are legible.
  • Provide medical examination, care and treatment to eligible military healthcare beneficiaries. Provide medical care and treatment of communicable diseases or injuries. Conserve health of patients by application of diversified knowledge of preventive, diagnostic, and therapeutic medical and surgical procedures. Perform surgical procedures in emergencies and perform minor surgical procedures for which privileged.
  • Seek advice of consultants when appropriate. Foster a positive working environment by providing consultative assistance to Physician Assistants and Nurse Practitioner's in the respective health care site to include non-therapeutic services such as physical examinations.
  • Initiate requests for tests, x-rays and admissions to the medical treatment facility, as appropriate. Follow-up of abnormal reports is the responsibility of the ordering physician. The contract physician on duty shall review all abnormal x-ray and lab reports received on patients seen by the contract physician at the time these reports are available for review. Each report shall be reviewed within the time frame established by the department.
  • Prescribe medications, as appropriate, in accordance with privileges and hospital rules and regulations. Prepare and document appropriate history, physical examinations and diagnosis. Maintain documentation of all treatment provided in accordance with hospital directives and prepare such records and reports as may be required. Ensure all documentation and reports are legible.
  • Inform the government supervisor of any problems encountered or anticipated in connection with meeting the needs of patients treated by the contract physician. Continuing problems of any nature shall be reported by the contractor in writing to the COR.
  • Adhere to the Center for Disease Control guidelines concerning universal precautions and MTF Infection Control Program at all times while providing services under this contract. Provide necessary medical services to the children in the Army's Exceptional Family Member Program (EFMP) and Child Protective Service evaluations. Administrative Duties. Shall be required to perform such administrative functions as necessary to initial, treat or follow up required treatment military healthcare beneficiaries.
  • Pediatric Physicians will see patients from birth through 23 years of age. Routine management of adolescent women’s health issues to include management of issue involving reproductive health routine testing for and treatment of sexually diseases, and counseling and management of birth control are required tasks.
