Pediatrician / Medical Director of School-Based Health

Overview:
Bassett Healthcare Network, a progressive, academic health system in central New York, major teaching affiliate of Columbia University, is seeking a Medical Director to join our staff.
Bassett’s School-Based Health Program has grown into the largest rural school-based health program in New York State and is one of the largest rural programs in the country. Since 1991, Bassett’s School-Based Health Centers (SBHCs) have been providing convenient, good quality health care to students in grades pre-K-12 in 17 rural school districts. There are currently 21 SBHCs operating in four counties, serving 7,500 students with more than 37,000 visits per year. SBHC care includes evidence-based pediatric care, mental health care, preventive-oral health care, and all Bassett SBHCs are NCQA PCMH recognized sites.

Job Summary:
Join an established group of Pediatricians and Advanced Practice Clinicians (APC).

Responsibilities:
  • The new Director will work with the past directors to collaborate clinically with the advanced practice clinicians that provide the majority of the medical care in the SBHCs; the Director will provide clinical guidance for protocols, policies, and projects related to the School-Based Health Program, including the development of new SBHCs and advocacy for the program at the local, state, and federal levels.
  • The Director will work closely with the Managers of the SBH Program and both the Administrative Director and Chief of the Department of Pediatrics to plan strategically for the future of the program.
  • Participation in the department’s after hours overnight back up call schedule will be encouraged.
Job Qualifications:
