Job Information:
- Vaccination Requirements: COVID vaccine is mandatory, with no exemptions.
- Worksite: – Ketchikan, AK
- Total Number of Full-Time Equivalents (FTEs) Needed: 1.0
- Reason for Coverage: Providing gap coverage in the pediatric department.
Schedule:
- Coverage Dates and Start Date: The target start date is in late September, with an anticipated duration of 6 months or until a permanent physician is in place.
- Specific Dates: Coverage is needed during the last week of September, the first week of October, November 18-24, and December 19-31.
- Shift Schedule: Clinic hours are Monday to Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. Additionally, 24-hour call shifts are required, covering inpatient rounding in labor and delivery, medical/surgical units, and ED consultation. Call shifts are typically 7-10 days long, including weekends and holidays.
- Minimum Length of Commitment: A commitment of 3+ months is required, with a preference for 6 months.
- Minimum Number of Shifts: Half-time commitment (shared with another locum physician) is acceptable; full-time commitment is preferred.
- Call Schedule/Responsibilities: Physicians will rotate 24-hour call shifts with other on-site physicians. While on call, responsibilities include inpatient rounding in labor and delivery, medical/surgical units, ED consultation, and care for newborns. The inpatient unit consists of 20 beds and 5 nursery beds.
Practice Details:
- Patients per Day/Volume: Physicians will see an average of 16 patients per day in the clinic setting.
- Type of Patients/Cases: The role involves regular clinic appointments. When on call, physicians will manage hospitalized patients, provide ED and OB consultations, and attend to newborns.
- Procedures/Cases: No specific procedures or cases are requested for this role.
- Support Staff: The physician will work alongside other pediatric physicians and nursing staff.
- Responsibility for Mid-Level Providers: No oversight of mid-level providers is required.
- EMR: Proficiency in EPIC EMR system is mandatory.
Requirements:
- Certifications/Qualifications Required: Candidates must hold BLS (Basic Life Support) and NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certifications.
- Board Certification: Board certification in pediatrics is required.
- IMLC State: This position does not fall under the Interstate Medical Licensure Compact (IMLC).
- Active State License: An active medical license in the state of Alaska is required.
- CSR/DEA Requirements: An Alaska DEA (Drug Enforcement Administration) registration is necessary.
