JOB OBJECTIVE

Provides comprehensive medical services to children from birth through adolescence, including guidance or mental and physical growth and development.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBLITIES

Reviews patient file/record, including allergies, problems, medications, well-child visits, and immunization

status. Elicits and records information about patient's medical, developmental, social, and family history. Examines patient to determine general physical condition or presence of disease or injury.

Orders or executes various tests, analyses, and diagnostic images to provide information on patient's condition. Analyzes reports and findings of tests and examination, and diagnoses condition of patient.

Administers or prescribes treatments as needed. Determines and prescribes medication, dosage, and schedule given the patient's condition and allergies. Prescribes and administers vaccinations to immunize patient from communicable diseases. Discusses any possible side affects to medication or immunization

with parent or patient. Refers patients to medical specialist for consultant services when necessary for patient's well-being. Follows up with patient or parent regarding progress in high risk or emergency cases. Establishes preventive health practices. Provides guidance to parent and patient regarding nutrition, safety, discipline, injury, and disease prevention. Provides educational materials or resources to parent or patient. Documents the patient's visit including medical history, physical exam, diagnoses, and plan of action. Conducts physical examinations to provide information needed for admission to school.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

Graduate of an accredited school of medicine and licensed to practice medicine in the State of California, by the California State Board of Medical Quality Assurance and current DEA License are required. Because of the indigent and migrant types of patients seen by Clinicas, the ability to speak both Spanish and English is preferred.
