Job Description

Last Update: 9/22/22

A 99-bed community-based hospital with an employed physician model is seeking a BC/BE Pediatrician for a position in Sterling, IL. The organization currently employs about 68 physicians in 35 areas of medicine. In addition to the hospital and Main Clinic, they offer 12 additional satellite facilities in the surrounding service areas.

The organization is currently seeking a Pediatrician who prefers to practice in an environment that will offer a comfortable work-life balance in a community of about 25,000 residents. The practice will be busy with the ability to grow to about 2,000 active patients and see near 30 patients per day. The candidate will be joining two other Pediatricians. There is RN and MA support.

The Pediatric Inpatient unit consists of 6 beds, and we average 100 admissions per year totaling about 400 patient days. The unit averages about 550 births per year, and Pediatricians share newborn responsibility with Family Medicine. The Nursery is Level Two, and both Pediatrics and Family Medicine perform circumcisions rather than OB. Call is (1:3), and Pediatricians are not called for routine c-sections – only higher risk deliveries.

This opportunity is mainly, perhaps 90%+, outpatient. The candidate who wants to keep all of their skills sharp and is dedicated to serving the needs of the patient will do well here.

The location is the best of both worlds - the earning potential and comfortable work/life balance of a small town but with the amenities of Chicago just two hours away. The hospital offers lucrative compensation and robust benefits packages. There is very limited competition in our service area, and the array of activities in Sterling is unsurpassed for a town of its size. Sterling sits on the Rock River with its great boating, hunting, and fishing; offers the Woodlawn Arts Academy for music, performing, and visual arts lessons and classes; and maintains an active park district with a gymnastics center, indoor pool, indoor track and turf field, 4 indoor tennis courts, 8,000+ square foot fitness center, and much more. Public and private schooling options are available, and the Sterling High School is ranked in the top 10% in Illinois.
