The Department of Surgery is now recruiting a second fully-trained Pediatric General Surgeon to expand clinical services in central, effective immediately.

This is an exciting opportunity for a successful candidate to expand our pediatric surgical services in the central Pennsylvania area. This location is currently staffed with one Pediatric General Surgeon, dedicated Pediatric Anesthesiologists and Pediatric Hospitalist 24/7. Both surgeons will work to cover the in-born neonatal population (encompassing some 6,000+ births), with a need to further expanded the pediatric general surgical practice in collaboration with the organizational leadership, pediatricians, and other regional pediatricians. Hospital is served by two general surgical residencies, as well as by rotating surgical residents from other residencies in Central Pennsylvania.

Hospital is currently expanding the existing 15 bed pediatric floor to include 11 additional Universal (ICU) rooms; other renovations will include a fully developed child life area as well as other support services. These additional beds have a planned opening of spring 2021

  • Join 1 Employed Peds Surgeon on right now. Other specialists are rotating through the site -- Peds Neuro, Peds Endo, Peds Gastro. Multi-speciality Suite - 18 exams rooms
  • Office Hours Wednesdays and Friday Mornings. Surgery day Tuesday or Thursday
  • Ability to do any minor office procedures at 3 walnut - suture removal, suturing, frenectomies.
    Surgeries at the hospital.
  • Call varies, 1-3 calls per weekend, 1-2 days with calls per week.

Clinical responsibilities will be based in central Pennsylvania, but will also entail educational opportunities at Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh. The surgeons will work closely in collaboration with Pediatric Surgeons based at Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh. Affiliated faculty status at the University of Pittsburgh will be offered commensurate with experience and achievement.
