Position Details:
Patient Population: All Ages
Setting: Inpatient and On-Call Coverage at MercyOne Waterloo Medical Center and MercyOne Cedar Falls Medical Center
Responsibilities: Provide inpatient orthopedic coverage and on-call services; perform history and physical exams; evaluate, diagnose, and treat musculoskeletal conditions including trauma, infections, tumors, degenerative diseases, deformities, and spine/extremity injuries; provide surgical and non-surgical orthopedic care; assess and stabilize emergent cases; provide ICU care as appropriate per policy; no clinic responsibilities.
Required Procedures: Comprehensive orthopedic surgical procedures involving spine, hands, feet, knee, hip, shoulder, elbow; trauma management; emergency orthopedic consults and interventions.
EMR System: Epic Enterprise
Support Staff: 4 Physicians; 4 Advanced Practice Providers (No supervision required)
Days Per Month: Coverage Blocks:

October 26 (7am) – November 6 (7am)
On-Call/Weekends: Yes – On-call and weekend coverage included
Submission Requirements:
- Board Certified in Orthopedic Surgery
- Fellowship Trained in Orthopedic Surgery
- Active Iowa License or Active IMLC (LOQ required at name clear)
- Must be experienced
- Must be able to cover both listed coverage blocks
- Clean Malpractice/Background History (NPDB within last 30–90 days required)
