POSITION INFORMATION:

Los Angeles General Medical Center (LA General) is recruiting a Pediatric Infectious Diseases Physician to join our Pediatric team. The role involves caring for children ages 0-21 yo admitted to the hospital. This is a full-time, County employed position with benefits to provide care in the inpatient setting.

Job Responsibilities

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO, THE FOLLOWING:
• Provide inpatient care for varied known or suspected infectious illnesses for pediatric patients in both the outpatient and inpatient setting.
• This includes providing care in our Maternal Child AIDS clinic, outpatient pediatric ID clinic, and inpatient pediatric ID consult service.
• Order appropriate work up (labs, imaging) and interpret results for common infectious conditions.
• Recommend appropriate antimicrobial therapy and practice antimicrobial stewardship in the inpatient and outpatient settings.
• Be knowledgeable of pediatric subspecialty care needs for children and refer as appropriate to ensure needed specialty care work up is completed for appropriate concerns.
• Participate in quality care improvement and system improvement work to improve care of children within our system of care and meet quality metrics as defined by the state and health plans.
• Respond to communications and review documents in a timely manner to facilitate patient care.
• Hospital committee work required as member of the physician workforce.
• Faculty appointment with USC Keck School of Medicine.

Qualifications

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:
• Completion of a Fellowship approved by American Specialty Board in Pediatric Infectious Diseases.
• Eligible for or possess a CA state Medical License in good standing.
• DEA license required or eligible to obtain.
• Commitment to medical education for trainees
• Spanish language skills a plus but not a condition of employment
