We are seeking a Board-Certified Pediatric Hospital Medicine Physician to provide locums coverage in Dublin, Georgia. This position involves in-house pediatric hospital medicine coverage with a manageable census, a supportive care team, and clearly defined responsibilities. While the facility is designated as a Level I trauma center, trauma care is managed by the Emergency Department and pediatric surgery teams.

Schedule & Coverage

  • In-house coverage: 8:00 AM – 8:00 PM
  • 8:00 PM – 8:00 AM call from hotel with callback
  • Trauma cases are not primary responsibilities
  • May be consulted for non-trauma emergencies such as drowning or cardiac arrest and expected to contribute clinical expertise as part of the care team

Patient Volume & Census

  • Daily census: 5–12 patients
  • Average daily rounding includes:
    • Nursery: 3–6 patients
    • Pediatric floor: 1–5 patients
    • NICU: 0–2 patients (TTN, mild RDS, ROS, transitional delay)
    • Occasional pediatric patients in the ED

Clinical Responsibilities

  • Pediatric inpatient rounding and management
  • Nursery and pediatric floor coverage
  • NICU care for low-acuity neonatal conditions
  • Neonatal intubations prior to transfer with temporary ventilator management
  • Placement of umbilical lines
  • Lumbar punctures
  • Sedation in the ED when performing procedures
  • OB team performs all circumcisions

Trauma & Emergency Involvement

  • Level I trauma designation, managed by ED and pediatric surgery
  • Physician will not be the primary provider for trauma cases
  • Expected to assist in select emergency situations as needed

Additional Details

  • No grand rounds
  • Collaborative environment with ED, OB, pediatric surgery, and nursing teams
  • Well-supported setting with defined scope and reasonable workload

Qualifications

  • Board Certified in Pediatrics
  • Active Georgia medical license (or ability to obtain)
  • Current PALS and NRP certifications
  • Comfortable with neonatal procedures and pediatric inpatient care
