Status: 0.5 Pediatric Clinic / 0.5 Pediatric Hospitalist

Staffing model/schedule: Newborn Nursery, 24-hour shifts - 8 hours on site, 16 hours on call as support, with Neonatology Team as primary on call provider team overnight. Halftime clinic role with a traditional clinic work week balanced with hospital shifts.

Call: Parent call only (w/ answering and triage services), 1:8, 1 week rotations

is a physician led 650+ provider multispecialty group seeking a seeking a board certified/board eligible physician (MD/DO) committed to a multi-disciplinary team approach to care to work as a hybrid Pediatrician, split between an ambulatory practice and the Newbornist service. Join an established, busy, 6-physician, 3-APP practice in delivering superb care in a collaborative environment, and our growing inpatient pediatric hospitalist team focused on the care of newborns and families at our Boise facility.

Our child-friendly clinic space is located on the campus of Saint Alphonsus Regional Medical Center, the region’s only Level II Trauma Center, with convenient proximity to Pediatric GI, laboratory, radiology and more.

The Saint Alphonsus Family Maternity Center delivers 1,200+ infants a year and is staffed by a highly certified L&D nursing staff, OB Hospitalist service, onsite 24-hour anesthesia (CRNA) coverage, and a Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. Our safety-oriented team of OB/GYNs collaborate with on-campus Maternal Fetal Medicine physicians, Neonatologists, and genetic counselors to serve the region's diverse patient population. The post-partum unit consists of 16 private family rooms where babies room-in with their mothers (or intended parents as applicable). We offer excellent support from our team of lactation consultants, neonatal pharmacists, nutritionists, occupational therapists, social work and case management to meet the unique needs of each family.

With a commitment to practicing up-to-date, evidence-based medicine, the Family Maternity Center and NICU team’s family-centered approach encourages parents and our expert staff in both the Boise and Nampa units to work together to achieve outcomes that exceed national benchmarks.

Responsibilities include:

  • Shift based rounding on newborn nursery patients to include, but not limited to, physical examinations; completing H&P, daily progress, and discharge notes; and parent education and anticipatory guidance for well newborn infants;
  • Manage well-newborn patients
  • Participate in multidisciplinary rounds with the nursery staff by providing active management strategies that may include nutritional adjustments, clinical management, lab and radiology review, and updating families;
  • Perform circumcisions and frenotomies as needed.
  • Provide on-call support for well-newborn infants and facilitate transfers to the NICU as clinically indicated.
  • Hand-off to NICU team for overnight primary clinical management, transitioning to back up on call provider overnight to cover unexpected high acuity, census or unique pediatric care needs.
  • Develop and maintain half time patient panel in the clinic setting.


Ideal candidate:

  • Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathy (DO) degree;
  • Successful completion of an accredited ACGME/AOA Pediatrics Residency;
  • Certification by the AAP or obtain such certification within 3 years of employment;
  • Idaho medical licensure and granting of privileges at SARMC – Boise;
  • Desired attributes: team collaboration, leadership, willingness to develop and adhere to protocols, strong surgical and OB sonography skills.
  • Current DEA and controlled substance;
  • Idaho medical licensure and granting of privileges at SARMC – Boise and SAMC - Nampa;
  • Commitment to practicing up-to-date, evidence-based medicine; team work and cultivating a culture of transformational care; and patient care while demonstrating and modeling organizational Mission, Vision, and Values
  • Enjoys teaching and educating staff
