Locum Pediatric Call Coverage – (Roseburg, OR)
Seeking a Pediatrician to provide inpatient and nursery call coverage while the facility secures a permanent provider. This role focuses heavily on Level II nursery care with additional responsibilities for ED consults and newborn rounding. Providers will stabilize and transfer critical patients and work in a low-volume pediatric inpatient setting.

Dates / Schedule

  • Coverage Needed: March – June (additional locum coverage)

  • Ongoing Opportunities: Coverage continuing into 2026

  • Schedule: 24-hour call (7:00 AM – 7:00 AM) with ~8 hours of rounding

  • Average In-House Time: ~5–6 clinical hours per day

  • Location: Mercy Medical Center, Roseburg, OR

Job Details / Responsibilities

  • Serve as Attending Physician for inpatient pediatrics and ED consults

  • Round on newborns and pediatric patients in the Family Birth Center

  • Manage care in a Level II nursery; stabilize and transfer critical patients

  • Average patient volume:

    • 4–6 newborns/day

    • 0–1 pediatric patients/day

    • Pediatric Med/Surg census typically 0–4 (avg. 1–2 during respiratory season)

  • Not required to attend routine deliveries; rare high-risk delivery involvement

  • 15-minute in-person response time for neonatal emergencies

  • Optional teaching opportunities with students/residents

  • EMR: Patient Keeper (Meditech interface)

  • Setting includes Level II nursery, Level I nursery, ED, Family Birth Center

  • No circumcisions performed at this facility

  • Neonatology phone/transfer support available from PeaceHealth (Eugene, OR)

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Board Certified or Board Eligible in Pediatrics – Required

  • Active Oregon medical license – Required

  • DEA – Required

  • Must have performed within the last 24 months:

    • Endotracheal intubations/vent management

    • Newborn care

    • Lumbar punctures

    • Umbilical line placement

  • Ability to perform IVIGRequired

  • Clean malpractice history – Highly Preferred (for emergency credentialing)

  • Local candidates (no flights) – Highly Preferred

  • Must list available coverage dates at time of submission
