Job description
ATC West Healthcare Services is seeking a Pediatric Hospitalist for 24-hour call coverage with rounding and inpatient responsibilities. The role involves caring for pediatric patients and newborns across the Level II nursery, Level I nursery, Family Birth Center, and ED. This need will continue into 2026 until a full-time provider is secured.

Ongoing coverage throughout 2026
Schedule:

24-hour call (7a–7a)
-
Includes 8 hours of rounding
-
Average Callback: 8.44 weekdays, 6.49 weekends

Typically 5–6 hours of in-house clinical care daily
-
15-minute response time required for neonatal emergencies
Job Details / Responsibilities
Setting: Inpatient Level II nursery, Level I nursery, ED, and Family Birth Center
FTE: 1.0
Primary Duties:
-
Serve as Attending for inpatient pediatrics and ED consults
-
Round on pediatric inpatients and newborns (Family Birth Center)
-
Stabilize and transfer critical patients (no in-house PICU)
-
Perform required procedures (see below)
-
Evaluate newborns; not required to attend all deliveries—only high-risk as needed
-
Work primarily in Level II nursery; pediatrics census is low
Patient Volumes:
-
Peds Unit: 6 beds, avg 1–2 patients/day; 0–4 depending on season
-
Newborns: 4–6 per day
-
Newborn admits: 2–4/day
-
Pediatric admits: <1/day
Procedures Required:

Lumbar puncture
-
Intubations
-
Umbilical line placement
-
Neonatal resuscitation
-
Ability to perform IVIG
-
No circumcisions performed at this location
EMR: Patient Keeper (interface with Meditech)
Support & Additional Details:

Neonatology phone consult support available via PeaceHealth in Eugene
-
Transfer team available for NICU-level stabilization
-
Not present for every delivery; RT + RN cover most births
-
Deal Breakers: Must have 2 occurrences in the past 24 months of:

Endotracheal intubations/vent management

Newborn care
-
Spinal tap/lumbar puncture

Umbilical line placement
-
Reason for Need: Coverage until a permanent provider is hired

Required Skills & Qualifications

Board Certified or Board Eligible in Pediatrics – Required

Oregon Medical License – Required
-
DEA – Required
-
Clean Malpractice History – Highly Preferred (required for emergency credentialing)

Local Provider – Highly Preferred

Documented competency (2 cases in 24 months) in:

Intubations/vent management

Newborn care
-
Lumbar puncture

Umbilical lines

Ability to perform IVIG – Required
