Job description Locums Pediatrics Hospitalist – Roseburg, Oregon Dates Needed:
  • 1/26 - 4 hour orientation
  • 1/27 (am) - 2/2 (am)
  • 2/8 (am) - 2/16 (am)
  • Ongoing coverage needed throughout 2026
Location: Roseburg, OR Local candidates highly preferred Licensing: OR license required Board Status: Board Certified or Board Eligible (Required) Key Requirements
  • Board Certified or Board Eligible in Pediatrics
  • Oregon medical license (preferred; candidates who will apply considered)
  • DEA required
  • Call response:
    • 15-minute in-person response for neonatal emergencies
    • Longer response acceptable for ED consults/admissions
  • Local candidates strongly preferred
Schedule & Coverage
  • 24-hour call: 7:00 AM – 7:00 AM
  • Includes 8 hours of rounding per day
  • Average call-backs:
    • Weekdays: 8.44
    • Weekends: 6.49
  • Time in-house varies by census and acuity (~5–6 hours/day on average)
Clinical Setting
  • Level II nursery (primary work area)
  • Level I nursery
  • ED consults
  • Family Birth Center
  • 18-bed pediatric ward (work primarily in Level II nursery)
  • 6-bed pediatric unit: average census ~2/day
  • Newborn census: 4–6
  • Pediatric census: 0–1
  • Avg admits/day: 2–4 newborns, <1 peds
  • No in-house Pediatric ICU; stabilize then transfer
Duties
  • Attending for inpatient pediatrics and ED consults
  • Rounding on pediatric inpatients and newborns
  • Stabilize and transfer critical patients
  • Examine/treat newborns
  • Rare involvement in high-risk deliveries (~1–2 times/month)
    • Not present for all deliveries
    • Called emergently if neonate not responding or needs persistent CPAP
Required Procedures
  • Lumbar puncture
  • Intubation
  • Umbilical line placement
  • Neonatal resuscitation
  • (No circumcisions required; none performed at this site)
Additional Information
  • EMR: Patient Keeper (interfaces with Meditech)
  • Reason for need: Interim coverage until full-time provider is hired
  • Neonatology support available via phone consults in Eugene, OR
  • Transfer team with dedicated NICU staff assists with stabilization
