About UTMB

The University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB), located in Galveston, Texas has a long history of advancing health sciences education, research and patient care. We were the first Academic Health Center in Texas and Galveston is home to the state's first schools of medicine. UTMB was established in 1891 and is comprised of 4 schools and 3 institutes. The Medical School enrolls 230 students per class and 1 in 6 Texas physicians have trained at UTMB. The Pediatric Residency program at UTMB currently fills 12 positions per year and the Division of Pediatric Endocrinology is actively involved in all levels of medical education.

Shriners Hospital for Children-Galveston, is an internationally recognized center for research and treatment of pediatric burn injury. In addition, metabolism including endocrinology, is one of the 6 core research areas.

Position Summaries

The Division of Pediatric Endocrinology at UTMB in partnership with Shriners Hospital for Children is seeking a full-time Academic Pediatric Endocrinologist. The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to clinical medicine, teaching, and research. Those candidates with an active interest in career and program development, including clinical and basic research are highly desired. The new faculty member will actively participate in the research and clinical care programs at Shriners Hospital, provide inpatient and outpatient pediatric endocrinology and diabetes services at UTMB and maintain medical school teaching responsibilities.

The Division of Pediatric Endocrinology at UTMB is also seeking a full-time Academic Pediatric Endocrinologist. The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to clinical medicine, teaching, and research. The new faculty member will provide inpatient and outpatient pediatric endocrinology and diabetes services at UTMB and maintain medical school teaching responsibilities.
All qualified candidates will have completed a pediatric endocrinology fellowship program, be board certified in Pediatrics and be BC/BE in Pediatric Endocrinology. The Area

The Galveston Island area offers a mild-subtropical climate where the average annual temperature is 74 degrees. The City of Galveston is located just 50 miles south of Houston proper and the UTMB campus is centrally located on Galveston Island. A second UTMB campus serving the mainland is located in League City, which is located just 10 miles north of Galveston Island along the I-45 corridor.
