Pediatric Endocrinology Locum Opportunity – Long Beach, CA (Children’s Village at MemorialCare)

Outpatient + Inpatient Rounding + 24/7 Call | January 2026 Start | Locums or Locums-to-Perm

MemorialCare’s Children’s Village in Long Beach, CA is seeking 1–2 Pediatric Endocrinologists for an ongoing locum tenens assignment beginning around January 1, 2026. This need is due to the departure of UCLA’s five-provider endocrinology team, and coverage is required while MemorialCare builds its new long-term service line.

This posting is going up early—additional details will follow as the facility finalizes staffing plans. Please reach out with any questions.

Position Overview

  • Schedule:

    • Providers typically cover one full week at a time

    • Half-day clinic daily (in person or video visits)

    • Hospital rounding (NICU, PICU, inpatient units as needed)

Clinical Scope

Typical responsibilities include:

  • Insulin pump management

  • Continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) management

  • Supervising infusion center stimulation tests and endocrine diagnostics

  • Outpatient pediatric endocrine follow-up

  • Inpatient consults and rounding

  • Minimal callback expected (facility has multiple attendings and fellows daily)

  • Very flexible—aiming for half-day clinic each day

  • Telehealth may supplement clinic load

Candidate Requirements

  • Board Certified or Board Eligible (early-career BE acceptable; new grads welcome)

  • Active California Medical License required

  • Epic experience required

  • Clean background—any malpractice or disciplinary issues will prevent privileging

What the Facility Prefers

MemorialCare leadership is selective, with strong preference for:

  • Physicians who live locally or within a short commute

  • Providers coming from integrated or large-system models, such as:

    • Optum

    • Kaiser Permanente

    • Providence

  • Candidates with prior large pediatric system experience

  • Early-career physicians or those comfortable stepping into a high-responsibility role

They may consider providers from private practice backgrounds if the fit is right.

Why This Assignment Stands Out

  • Rare opportunity to support a rebuilding Pediatric Endocrinology program

  • Consistent weekly blocks + predictable schedule

  • Ability to convert to a permanent role if desired

  • Work on a major SoCal medical campus with strong inpatient teams

  • High-impact role with meaningful continuity of care

If you’d like to learn more, confirm interest, or check your availability against their schedule, reach out any time—I’d love to walk you through the details and submit you for consideration.
