Job Description & Requirements
Pediatric Emergency Physician - (EM Peds, ER Peds) Locum Tenens
3 positions in one: PEM Dept, Ped Hospitalists, nursery rounding
oThis assignment will begin immediately following the privileging of the candidate
oThis will be on ongoing assignment until a permanent physician has been recruited
oPrivileging will take 45-60 days
oAnnual volume is 16k Children's Hospital
oLevel IIb Special Care Nursery on site
oThe ED has 6 ped beds
oInpatient unit has 14 ped beds
o4-10PPD
oClient will accept BC PEM or BC/BE Pediatrics with EM experience
o8-12 hour shifts, approx 20-30 hrs/wk
oShift times vary
oRounding 5-7 hours per day on inpatient unit & nursery
oNo deliveries or long-term ventilators
oVentilators are available for patients awaiting transfer
oProcedures include lumbar punctures and incision and drainage
oBackup support from Neonatologists, ED Ped NPs, RNs & Resp. Therapists
oEMR system is MedHost
oInpatient charting is done on paper
oClient will pay for travel and lodging
Specializing in the diagnosis and care of children and teenagers who are acutely ill, suffering from life-threatening conditions or injured, pediatric emergency physicians(locum tenens) are required to treat a plethora of ailments. These physicians must be able to deal with medical emergencies, often treating patients who have incurred trauma or are suffering from exotic illnesses. As with any pediatric specialty, easing anxiety and pain is paramount in pediatric emergency care.
