Austin, Texas - Pediatric Emergency Medicine Assistant Director

Location: Austin Setting: Children’s Hospital – 10-bed Pediatric-Only Emergency Department

We are seeking a Pediatric Emergency Medicine (PEM) physician to serve as Assistant Facility Medical Director, partnering with an experienced director in a collaborative leadership structure. This role combines clinical care with administrative leadership in a supportive environment.

• Patient Volume: Low 50s daily

• ED Coverage: 24 hours/day (two 12-hour physician shifts)

• APC Coverage: 12 hours/day

• Support Units:

  • Pediatric OR

  • 8-bed medical/surgical unit

  • 6-bed PICU

• Additional Coverage: 24/7 pediatric hospitalist and intensivist support

• Assist in overseeing operations of the pediatric emergency department

• Collaborate with the facility medical director on quality, staffing, and clinical policies

• Maintain a balanced clinical load while providing administrative oversight
