Pediatrician - Allergy & Immunology - F63620

The Division of Pediatric Allergy and Immunology at the Children’s Hospital of Richmond at Virginia Commonwealth University (CHOR at VCU) is recruiting for a junior faculty member at the Assistant Professor rank (non-tenure eligible) to participate in clinical, teaching and research activities. The Division currently has 3 clinical faculty, an advanced practice provider, a nurse coordinator and a nurse navigator. Providers see patients at the downtown Children’s Pavilion and travel to outlying community clinics. Candidates with special area of clinical interest/niche are encouraged. Successful applicants will be board certified in Pediatrics and board certified or board eligible in Allergy/Immunology and will be expected to provide quality and timely clinical care on the inpatient and outpatient units.

Teaching is integral mission of our division, as we have an active ACGME-approved fellowship program in collaboration with the Department of Internal Medicine as well as strong involvement with medical students and residents in both Pediatrics and Internal Medicine. Research experience or interest is preferred, but not required – active basic science and clinical research programs exist in both Pediatric and Adult divisions. Sufficient time will be allotted to the faculty member for academic activities.

CHoR physicians enjoy a collegial work environment with a competitive salary and comprehensive benefits plan. Successful candidates will have demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff, and student environment or commitment to do so as a faculty member at VCU.

The VCU School of Medicine is the largest medical school in Virginia, and the only academic medical center in Richmond. CHoR is the largest full-service academic pediatric hospital in central Virginia, and part of a multispecialty hospital with 160 beds. Our new Children’s Pavilion for outpatient services opened in March 2016 and a new inpatient facility is in the planning stage.
Richmond is a comfortable metropolitan area of 1.2 million and is home to an active and vibrant sports, theater, music, arts and restaurant-brewery scene. We are centrally located, close to the Blue Ridge Mountains to the west, the Virginia and Carolina beaches to the east, and just 90 miles south of Washington, DC.
