The UCLA David Geffen School of Medicine and UCLA Health Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine is seeking an outstanding physician to serve as the Service Chief for Genitourinary Pathology. The appointment would be at the level of Associate or Full Professor, AP or AP/CP board certification is essential, and substantial experience as a GU subspecialty pathologist is desired. A successful record of productive research collaborations or independent research activities is critical. The ability to participate in other service areas within the Department is a plus.

The candidate will be responsible for overseeing all clinical operations related to the GU Pathology service, including ensuring outstanding diagnostic services, maintaining collaborative relationships with clinicians, monitoring quality and turn-around time, ensuring appropriate Pathology presence at tumor boards, creating the service sign out schedule, instituting research projects that involve faculty and residents and establishing criteria to ensure appropriate resident education. The candidate will share responsibility for training residents and fellows. The incumbent will be expected to direct SPORE pathology research core services and to contribute intellectually to basic, translational and clinical urologic research activities. Membership in the UCLA Prostate SPORE and a joint appointment in the Institute for Urologic Oncology is available to candidates with a strong record of scholarship

The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine is an integral part of the vibrant UCLA research Enterprise and there are numerous opportunities to participate in clinical trials, translational research and basic research. Candidates will be expected to contribute creatively to research and scholarly projects; UCLA offers a highly collaborative research environment that promotes interactions among faculty in the School of Medicine.
