Locum Tenens Physician – Pathology
Position Type: Locum Tenens
Specialty: Physician – Pathology
Location: Syracuse, New York
Rate: Open & Negotiable
Shift: Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Start Date: June 1, 2026
End Date: Ongoing intermittent coverage through December 2026
Position Details:
Patient Population: Adult hospital-based pathology cases
Setting: Hospital-based pathology laboratory
Responsibilities:
- General anatomic pathology
- Surgical pathology interpretation
- Frozen section analysis
- Cytology review
- Grossing of specimens
Required Procedures:
- Surgical Pathology
- Cytology
- Frozen Sections
- Gross Examination of Specimens
EMR System: Epic Beaker
Support Staff:
- 4 Pathologists
- 5 Histotechnologists
- 1 Pathology Assistant
- 2 Cytotechnologists
Days Per Month: Flexible based on provider availability and confirmed open dates
On-Call/Weekends: No call and no weekend requirements
Submission Requirements:
- AP Board Certified
- Active New York medical license
- NPDB Self-Query (within 30 days)
- Confirmed availability for listed coverage dates
- Clean malpractice history preferred
Additional Highlights:
- Approx. 13,000 surgical specimens and 3,000 cytology specimens annually
- Level III Trauma Center
- Cytology proficiency required for GYN cytology
- Credentialing timeframe: 40–45 days
- Multiple open dates through the remainder of 2026
