JOB OVERVIEW
• Job Title: Pathologist
• Job Type: Locum Tenens
• Location: Orangeburg, SC
• Service Setting: Inpatient/Outpatient
• Coverage Type: Clinical + Call
• Coverage Period: May 8, 2026 – May 24, 2026 (Additional dates TBD)
• Clinical Shift Schedule: Monday – Friday | 7:30a – 5:00p
• On-Call Shift Schedule: Weekend call (Sat – Sun 7:30a – 7:30a)
• Call Type: Beeper
COVERAGE DATES
• May 11 – May 15, 2026 (Day shifts)
• May 18 – May 22, 2026 (Day shifts)
• May 9 – May 10, 2026 (24-hour call)
• May 16 – May 17, 2026 (24-hour call)
• May 23 – May 24, 2026 (24-hour call)
PATIENT INFORMATION
• Patient Demographics: Adults
• Patient Volume/Census: Approximately 3,000 surgical cases per year
• Admissions: Yes
• Phone Consults: Yes
• Case Mix: Surgical biopsies, routine surgical specimens, cancer resections, blood smear reviews, routine pathology
FACILITY INFORMATION
• Trauma Level: No Trauma
• EMR System: Epic
• Office Equipment Available: Standard pathology lab equipment
• Support Staff Available: Lab staff
• Reason for Coverage: PTO coverage
PRIVILEGES & COMPLIANCE
• Hospital Privileges Required: Yes
• Credentialing Timeline: Approximately 90 days
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
• Additional Compensation: $500 flat rate for onboarding modules and Epic personalization
• Travel, Lodging, and Malpractice Insurance: $150/night stipend for lodging, car rental, or mileage (per facility guidelines)
REQUIRED PROCEDURES
• Gross sectioning and examination of pathology specimens
• Surgical pathology sign-out
• Clinical pathology responsibilities
• Blood smear reviews
• Handling routine pathology cases and cancer resections
JOB REQUIREMENTS
• Licenses: Active SC license or FCVS
• Board: Board Eligible within 5 years
• Experience: Fellowship required; experience in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology
• Other Qualifications: Must perform gross pathology; Epic experience preferred
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
• Perform gross examination and sign-out of surgical pathology specimens
• Interpret and report anatomic and clinical pathology findings
• Review and analyze blood smears and routine pathology cases
• Collaborate with clinical teams to support patient diagnosis and treatment
• Participate in weekend call coverage as scheduled
