Job description
We are seeking a Pathologist for a locum tenens assignment in Syracuse, NY. This hospital-based lab role involves supporting a collaborative team of 4 physicians during a period of short staffing. The facility is a Level 3 Trauma Center part of the Trinity Health network, offering a high-volume environment in a vibrant metropolitan area.
-Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM.
-Location: Syracuse, NY.
-Team: 4 Physicians, 5 Histotechnologists, 1 Pathology Assistant, and 2 Cytotechnologists.
-Charting: EPIC / Beaker.
Job Responsibilities
-Responsible for grossing own specimens and cutting own frozen sections on the cryostat.
-Manage a robust caseload (Total annual volume: ~13,000 surgical and ~3,000 cytology specimens).
-Utilize specialized equipment including ThinPrep integrated imagers and Avantik cryostats.
-Maintain clinical excellence and efficiency while working alongside other staff pathologists.
Qualifications
-Licensure: Active New York State license [REQUIRED].
-Exam: Cytology Proficiency Exam required for GYN Cytology.
-Credentialing: Self-Query NPDB report pulled within the same month of submission [REQUIRED].
Working Hours
-On-Call: No call requirements.
-Availability: 3 to 6 months of coverage needed
Skills
-Technical competence with Cryostat-Avantik QS12UV and Nikon/Olympus microscopy.
-Ability to handle high-volume diagnostic demands in a regional healthcare system.
