We are seeking a dedicated Pathologist for a Locum to Permanent position in Syracuse, NY. This hospital-based role involves joining a well-established team of 4 physicians to manage a robust surgical and cytology volume. As part of Trinity Health, the facility is a regional leader in quality care, offering a collaborative environment in a vibrant metropolitan area.
-Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM.
-Location: Syracuse, NY.
-Team: 4 Physicians, 5 Histotechnologists, 1 Pathology Assistant, and 2 Cytotechnologists.
-Charting: EPIC / Beaker.
Job Responsibilities
-Responsible for grossing own specimens and cutting own frozen sections on the cryostat.
-Manage a high volume of approximately 13,000 surgical specimens and 3,000 cytology specimens per year.
-Perform frozen section analysis and utilize equipment such as the ThinPrep integrated imager and Avantik cryostats.
-Collaborate with other pathologists present during coverage to ensure efficient lab operations.
Qualifications
-Licensure: Active New York State license [REQUIRED].
-Exam: Cytology Proficiency Exam required for GYN Cytology.
-Credentialing: Self-Query NPDB report pulled within the same month of submission [REQUIRED]
Working Hours
-On-Call: No call requirements.
-Availability: 3 to 6 months of initial coverage
Skills
-Technical skill in operating Avantik cryostats and Nikon/Olympus microscopes.
-Ability to work effectively in a Level 3 Trauma Center environment.
