- Other Details: We are seeking a pathologist for 3 to 6 months of hospital-based laboratory coverage due to a staffing shortage. The role includes general anatomic pathology, frozen section analysis, and cytology, with responsibilities for grossing surgical specimens and cutting frozen sections on the cryostat. The practice handles approximately 13,000 surgical specimens and 3,000 cytology specimens annually. The locum will work alongside other pathologists and laboratory staff, including five histotechnologists, one pathology assistant, and two cytotechnologists. The laboratory holds CLIA and NYS certifications, uses ThinPrep for cytology, and requires proficiency in GYN cytology. Equipment includes a Hologic ThinPrep integrated imager, Avantik QS12UV and QS II cryostats, and Nikon Eclipse E400 and Olympus BX41 microscopes. No supervision of other providers or on-call responsibilities are required.

Job Responsibilities
* Conduct frozen section analysis using cryostat
* Evaluate cytology specimens, including GYN cytology with ThinPrep preparation
* Accurately document pathology findings and communicate with laboratory staff
* Collaborate with other pathologists and laboratory personnel, including histotechnologists, pathology assistants, and cytotechnologists
* Ensure compliance with laboratory standards and protocols
Qualifications
* Experience in surgical pathology and cytology, including frozen section analysis
* Proficiency in GYN cytology
* Familiarity with hospital-based laboratory procedures and equipment
* Ability to work independently while collaborating with other pathologists
Working Hours
* Hospital-based laboratory setting
