HCA Healthcare Pathology Services—one of the largest integrated pathology groups in the country with 200+ board-certified pathologists—seeks an experienced AP/CP Pathologist to serve as Medical Director at HCA Florida Fawcett Hospital. This is a strong opportunity for a pathologist who values leadership, diagnostic variety, and the support of a national pathology network while still enjoying a collegial, two-pathologist practice environment.
Position Highlights
Ideal Candidate Profile
- AP/CP Board Certification (required)
- Minimum 3 years of hospital-based experience preferred
- Proficient across the full scope of community hospital AP/CP
- Excellent communication and leadership skills
- Active Florida medical license or eligibility to obtain one
Practice Details & Case Mix
This site offers a steady, manageable volume within a highly collaborative two-pathologist practice.
Annual Volumes
- 4,000 surgical cases
- 1,000 non-gyn cytology cases
- ~5 peripheral smears/week
- <1 blood bank review/week
Procedures
- Frozen sections & ROSE: <10 per week
Specimen Variety
- Bread-and-butter community practice with solid exposure to:
- Breast
- Colorectal
- Thoracic
- Urologic
- Bone marrow
Additional Scope
- Remote coverage for HCA Florida Englewood Hospital (100 beds; ~1,400 surgical specimens & ~100 non-gyn cytology annually)
- No gyn cytology
- No autopsies
- Oversight of labs in associated Free-Standing Emergency Departments
