Job description
This Medical Director provides strategic leadership, ensures regulatory compliance (CAP/CLIA), and manages quality assurance for anatomic pathology services while signing out complex surgical cases. They oversee laboratory operations, personnel, and technology implementation, acting as a liaison between pathology and clinical staff to optimize patient care and diagnostic accuracy.
Job Responsibilities
Operational Management: Oversee laboratory staff, workflow efficiency, budget, and equipment procurement.
Quality & Compliance: Maintain CAP, ISO, and CLIA accreditation, and manage quality assurance (QA) programs.
Administrative Direction: Develop policies, procedures, and strategic initiatives for the department.
Clinical Consultation: Provide expert advice to clinicians regarding pathology findings for patient management.
Technology & Innovation: Evaluate and implement new technologies, such as digital pathology or molecular diagnostics.

Qualifications
Certification: Board-certified in Anatomic Pathology (AP) or Anatomic & Clinical Pathology (AP/CP).
Experience: Demonstrated leadership experience in a surgical pathology setting.
Expertise: Strong proficiency in general surgical pathology and subspecialty areas (e.g., GI, breast, dermatopathology).
