The Community:

Set in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains, this lively yet laid-back city offers a rare mix of natural beauty and everyday ease, with greenways, nearby hiking trails, and mountain views woven right into daily life. A thriving downtown, energized by a major university and a growing healthcare and research presence, brings great restaurants, music, and a steady sense of momentum, while still keeping housing affordable and commutes short. You’re centrally positioned for quick trips to Bristol and Kingsport, about an hour from Asheville’s arts and food scene, and within easy reach of Knoxville and the Great Smoky Mountains for bigger-city amenities or weekend adventures. It’s the kind of place where opportunity, outdoor access, and quality of life come together in a way that feels both exciting and comfortably livable.
