Job description

Job description

We are seeking a board-certified Pathologist to provide locum tenens coverage in California. This is an inpatient setting with scheduled clinical hours plus beeper call coverage, requiring a 30-minute response time for STEMI. The position offers a solo practice environment where you will be responsible for grossing and handling a daily case volume of 10–15, with a strong emphasis on small GI biopsies. The practice also includes notable GYN pathology, averaging approximately one cancer case per week.

After-hours call responsibilities are minimal, and there are no weekend call requirements, allowing for a balanced workload. Consulting pathologists are available through a sister hospital located about 45 minutes away, with reliable courier services in place to support collaboration. Additionally, Desert Regional Medical Center provides access to regular tumor boards and breast pretreatment conferences, offering opportunities for CME and professional engagement.

This opportunity is well-suited for a physician comfortable working independently in a solo practice setting while maintaining strong communication with consulting colleagues. Providers must be adept at diagnostic pathology, efficient with case volumes, and confident in their ability to manage both routine and complex pathology cases.
