πŸ“ž Call: Rotating every 2 weeks (blood bank/organ procurement/frozen sections)
πŸ’° Pay Rate: $165/hr | $1,800 for 24hr call

Assignment Details:
A well-established hospital in Athens, GA is seeking a Board-Certified Pathologist for a 6-month locum assignment due to a retirement. The incoming provider will work alongside 2 pathologists and 6 histotechnologists in a busy, CLIA/CAP/AABB-certified lab.

Job Responsibilities

Responsibilities Include:
Grossing own specimens (alternating days: biopsies vs. surgical)
Frozen sections (after-hours only; no cutting on cryostat)
Reviewing cases per pathologist review criteria
Call coverage includes blood bank and rare organ procurement
Cytology (non-GYN), autopsy, hematopathology, GI/GU/Neuro pathology, bone marrow aspirate/biopsy interpretation
Lab & Equipment:
EMR: Epic Beaker
Cryostats: Leica & Thermo
Microscopes: Zeiss
Bond IHC
Liquid-based cytology prep

Qualifications

Requirements:
βœ… BC in Pathology
βœ… Proficiency in required anatomic & clinical procedures
βœ… Cytology proficiency exam (non-GYN only)

Working Hours

πŸ•’ Working Hours:
Monday to Friday
Choice of two shifts: 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM or 9:00 AM – 5:30 PM
Call Schedule: Rotating every 2 weeks (24-hour call coverage, $1,800 per call day)

Skills

🧠 Required Skills & Expertise:
Proficient in Surgical Pathology, GI/GU Pathology, Neuropathology, and Cytology (non-GYN)
Experience with Bone Marrow Aspiration/Biopsy and Hematopathology
Skilled in Autopsy procedures and interpretation
Strong knowledge of Clinical Pathology: Hematology, Microbiology, Chemistry/Serology, nd Blood Bank
Ability to gross own specimens (biopsies/surgical – alternating days)
Competency in reviewing tech-prepared specimens that meet pathologist review criteria
Comfortable taking 24-hour call for blood bank, frozen sections, and rare organ procurement
Familiar with Epic Beaker EMR, Bond IHC, Leica & Thermo cryostats, and Zeiss microscope
Excellent diagnostic accuracy, communication, and teamwork in a multi-pathologist setting
