A well-respected pathology practice located in Scottsbluff, Nebraska is seeking a Full-Time permanent Pathologist to join their team in assisting an acute care hospital. Generous sign on bonus and relocation offered as well! New graduates welcome to apply!

Pay: up to $500,000 a year; depending on experience

This role's compensation is set to increase upon another Pathologist's retirement from their group. Path to partnership!


Pathologist Job Description:

  • Primarily focused on surgical pathology

  • No FNA or bone marrow procedures

  • Will mainly handles skin, breast, and GI biopsies (about 75% of cases) and hemepath (15%).

  • Cytology slides screened by an off-site company

  • Location is currently transitioning from Cerner to EPIC EMR system

  • Approximately 7,000 cases annually, including 200-300 bone marrow cases. No pap smear cases. About 20-30 surgical pathology cases per day, 60-70 total slides, and 100 forensic autopsies per year. Complex cases sent to larger labs/hospitals.

Pathologist Job Duties:

  • Monday to Friday schedule, 7:30/8:00 AM to 2:00/2:30 PM.

  • Be able to analyze around 60 to 70 slides a day

  • Pathologists are expected to sign off on cases within a 24-hour timeframe

  • Serves as Medical Directors for 3-5 smaller CAH in NE

  • Conducts own gross examination (1-2 hours on gross day)

  • Handles only coroners' cases, no private autopsies

  • A generalist practice setting; must be okay with working a little bit of everything

  • Provide detailed analyses of various specimens, including bone marrow, breast biopsies, and forensic autopsies.

Pathologist Qualifications:

  • Must be board-certified/board-eligible

  • Pathologist with a Nebraska state license or eligibility to obtain

  • Strong in general surgical pathology

  • Can effectively communicate complex diagnostic info

  • Ideal candidate has a background in forensic & surgical pathology; preferred

  • Adaptable to tech/method changes
