**Pathologist needed in Caribou, ME** Located in North East Maine, on the Border of New Brunswick **Position Details** - Full-time, permanent - No call - J1/H1 eligible - 2 Pathologists on staff in the Medical Center Laboratory - The hospital Laboratory is CAP accredited and is staffed 365 days a year, 24 hours a day. - 36 member staff consists of Phlebotomists, Medical Laboratory Technicians, Clinical Laboratory Scientists and Medical Technologists. - The laboratory offers a wide test menu to include Chemistry, Special Chemistry, Hematology, Serology and Urinalysis. - The laboratorys Blood Bank stores units of Red Cells and Frozen plasma for various different blood types and offers a full testing menu. - The Microbiology Department performs culture workups on different sources as well as rapid antigen tests. - PCR testing is offered for Respiratory and Enteric Pathogens. - Bacterial identification with potential resistance patterns for Positive blood cultures are done for rapid turnaround time on patients with septicemia. - Sensitivity Panels are offered as needed for treatment of infections. - The Histology department handles all processing and slide preparation of surgical specimens for our Pathologists. - Scheduled Frozen Sections are available. - A variety of special stains are offered in house. - The Laboratory is interfaced with the reference Laboratory (Quest Diagnostic) to offer faster turnaround time for tests not done on campus. **Requirements** - Board Certified or Board Eligible - Allopathic and osteopathic physicians will be considered equally - American born and trained physicians and foreign-born physicians who have completed a US residency and/or fellowship will be considered equally. - J-1 and H1-B Visa candidates will be considered. - In-practice physicians, residents or fellows, and military-trained physicians will be considered equally **About the Medical Center** - Medical Center is a 65-bed facility with about 60 providers on active staff. - Services include General Surgery, Internal Medicine, Family Practice, Obstetrics and Gynecology, Pediatrics, Oncology and Hematology, Orthopedics and Sports Medicine, Urology, Ophthalmology, Anesthesiology, Pathology, Radiology, 24-hour Emergency Medicine and a wide variety of specialty Clinics. - Medical Group is an organization of caring and dedicated people who are committed to excellence in patient-centered care and continuous quality improvement. - Group has been providing quality health care services to the citizens of the region for 95 years. - Leadership and staff understand that the relationship with patients and their families is a matter of trust. - The Hospital Family has established their reputation based on a combination of personal, individual care while bringing the latest in technology and medical advances to the benefit of all patients. - Medical Group features all private patient rooms, a family centered maternity program, and a modern one-day-surgery unit. - The hospital provides the largest outpatient rehabilitation service in northern Maine including a multi-stage cardiac and pulmonary rehabilitation program and a very dynamic Oncology Rehab. and Womens Health Rehab Program. - Considerable investments in technology have been made to enhance patient services, significantly reduce the risk of medical error and to improve access to health information. - High tech, high touch approach to healthcare separates this Medical Center from many hospitals in the United States.
