Pain Management Physician (Board Certified / Board Eligible)
Lebanon VA Medical Center, Lebanon, PA | Full Time | Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–4:30 PM
Position Overview
We are recruiting one Board Certified or Board Eligible Pain Management Physician to provide on-site outpatient pain management and opioid prescribing services to Veterans at the Lebanon VA Medical Center (1700 S. Lincoln Ave, Lebanon, PA 17042). This is a new 1.0 FTE position under a federal contract with a one-year base period and four option years. Performance begins September 30, 2026; the start date depends on VA credentialing and privileging.
The schedule is fixed weekday clinic hours: Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM. The contract has no on-call, after-hours, weekend or holiday coverage requirement.
Key Responsibilities
- Evaluate, diagnose and manage acute and chronic pain for Veterans in an on-site clinic setting.
- Prescribe and manage opioid and non-opioid therapy in line with VA/DoD guidance and safe-prescribing standards.
- Complete consults promptly so the clinic meets VA wait-time and consult-completion standards.
- Document all care in the VA electronic health record (CPRS/VistA) according to VHA Directive 1907.01 and facility guidelines.
- Work with the facility's primary care, mental health and specialty teams on coordinated, multidisciplinary pain care.
- Practice within the privileges granted by the facility Medical Executive Board and follow the Medical Staff Bylaws.
- Complete required VA training (including mandatory annual courses and CPRS) and keep CME current.
Qualifications & Experience
- MD or DO with a current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine in any U.S. state, territory or D.C. No license may ever have been restricted, suspended, revoked or surrendered.
- Board certified or board eligible in Pain Medicine through the American Board of Anesthesiology or the American Board of Pain Medicine.
- Clinical experience in pain management and opioid prescribing.
- Current, unrestricted DEA registration and an active NPI.
- Current BLS and ACLS certification.
- Fluent spoken and written English.
- Able to complete VA credentialing and privileging, a background investigation/PIV badging, and occupational health clearance (TB screening; MMR, varicella and Tdap immunity; annual influenza vaccination).
- Must not appear on the HHS OIG List of Excluded Individuals/Entities.
Compensation
Local rate: $340–$350/hour, based on experience.
Local position; no per diem or travel allowance. Scheduled weekday hours only.

Working Hours
Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–4:30 PM, on-site at Lebanon VA Medical Center. That is 8 paid hours a day (40 hours a week), with a 30-minute lunch. No call, nights, weekends or federal holidays.
