Lebanon, PA (Lebanon VA Medical Center) | Full Time | 8-hour on-site clinical shifts, Monday-Friday
Position Overview
We are seeking a Board Certified/Board Eligible Pain Management Physician to provide onsite pain management and opioid prescribing services at the Lebanon VA Medical Center in Lebanon, PA. This is a 1.0 FTE key-personnel role providing direct clinical care to Veteran patients within a state-of-the-art healthcare treatment environment. The role requires availability for standard on-site clinical shifts, 8.0 hours per day, Monday through Friday, with responsibility for evaluation, treatment, and management of patients referred for pain management care in accordance with American Board of Pain Medicine and American Board of Anesthesiology standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Evaluate, treat, and manage patients referred for pain management care, including opioid prescribing, in accordance with VA and Joint Commission standards.
- Provide timely, on-site consultation and coordinate care with referring physicians and sub-specialists.
- Complete history and physical examinations, order and interpret diagnostic studies, and administer medications as clinically indicated.
- Discuss end-of-life preferences/advanced care planning and coordinate care with primary care physicians as needed.
- Provide discharge education and ensure appropriate follow-up is arranged for patients.
- Maintain current documentation in the Computerized Patient Record System (CPRS) and complete required evaluation and management coding for each patient encounter.
- Participate in quality improvement activities, staff meetings, and QA/QI documentation as required by the facility Chief of Service or designee.
- Maintain required certifications (BLS, ACLS or equivalency) and complete all mandatory annual training.
Qualifications & Experience
- Board Certified or Board Eligible in Pain Management Physician Services and opioid prescribing, per American Board of Pain Medicine or American Board of Anesthesiology standards.
- Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine in any U.S. state, territory, or the District of Columbia.
- Current certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) or equivalency.
- Current DEA certificate and National Provider Identifier (NPI).
- Ability to obtain and maintain VA credentialing and privileging (VHA Directive 1100.20/1100.21) prior to providing services.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively within a hospital medicine / interdisciplinary care team.
Compensation
$325-$350/hour, depending on experience and certifications.
