Pain Management Physician — Hershel "Woody" Williams VA Medical Center, Huntington, WV
We are seeking a Board Certified/Board Eligible Pain Management Physician to provide onsite interventional pain care to Veterans at the Hershel "Woody" Williams VA Medical Center in Huntington, WV, with coverage extending to the Charleston VA Outpatient Clinic (South Charleston, WV). This is a long-term contract opportunity supporting a Veterans Integrated Service Network facility, with a projected term of September 2026 through August 2029.
Compensation
- Target hourly rate: $160.61–$188.95/hr, commensurate with board certification, fellowship training, and years of interventional pain experience (based on 2,117 clinic hours/year: M–F, 8:00 AM–4:30 PM, less federal holidays)
- Full malpractice/tail coverage provided
- Benefits package (health, dental, vision, 401(k) match, PTO)
- Credentialing and onboarding support provided
Schedule
- Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–4:30 PM
- Onsite clinical role — no nights, weekends, or call
- Primary site: Huntington, WV | Secondary site: South Charleston, WV (CBOC)
What You'll Do
- Provide comprehensive, interdisciplinary pain management care within the VA's Biopsychosocial Model of Pain Care and Stepped Care Model of Pain Management
- Perform interventional pain procedures, including fluoroscopy- and ultrasound-guided injections
- Evaluate, diagnose, and manage acute and chronic pain across outpatient and inpatient settings
- Collaborate with nurse practitioners, physician assistants, and the interdisciplinary pain care team
- Provide consultative services and coordinate care with referring clinicians and primary care providers
- Maintain timely, accurate clinical documentation in accordance with VA and national standards of care
Required Qualifications
- Board Certified or Board Eligible in Pain Medicine, or demonstrable experience in pain management and opioid prescribing
- Current, full, and unrestricted medical license (any U.S. state, territory, D.C., or Puerto Rico)
- Current certification by the American Board of Anesthesiology (ABA), or credentials meeting American Board of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (ABPMR) or American Board of Pain Management (ABPM) standards
- Current BLS and ACLS certification
- Active NPI number
- Clear OIG exclusion search
- Ability to pass VA credentialing/privileging review
Compliance & Onboarding Requirements
- VA Privacy and Information Security Awareness / Rules of Behavior training (VA 10176)
- Privacy and HIPAA training (VA 10203)
- Proof of immunity/vaccination or titer: MMR, Hepatitis B, Varicella
- TB screening (skin test, bloodwork, or chest X-ray)
- Annual influenza vaccination (or approved medical exemption with masking)
