Step Into a High-Impact Academic Leadership Opportunity:

Chief of Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery
Carilion Clinic | Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine - Roanoke, Virginia

Imagine leading a growing, academically engaged otolaryngology program while living in one of the most scenic and livable regions on the East Coast. At Carilion Clinic, you’ll find a rare combination of leadership opportunity, clinical breadth, academic collaboration, and quality of life.

Carilion Clinic and the Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine (VTCSOM) seek an accomplished, board-certified ENT surgeon to serve as Section Chief of Otolaryngology.

This is a high-impact leadership role offering the opportunity to guide a growing academic otolaryngology program, shape clinical strategy, and expand research and educational initiatives within a nationally recognized health system.

Why This Opportunity Stands Out

As Chief of Otolaryngology, you’ll step into a highly visible leadership role with the ability to shape and guide the future of a dynamic and expanding program, while building toward something even bigger — a new residency program and continued academic growth.

You’ll guide a collaborative, well-established team of physicians and advanced practitioners, shape clinical strategy, and expand research and educational initiatives within a nationally recognized health system.

This is a role for a physician leader who wants to make a lasting impact—clinically, academically, and organizationally—while practicing in a supportive, physician-led system.

Your Role & Impact

  • Lead a multidisciplinary team of 9 otolaryngologists, 7 advanced care practitioners, 5 audiologists, and a hearing instrument specialist
  • Shape and grow clinical, educational, and research initiatives within a nationally recognized health system
  • Play a central role in developing a future Otolaryngology residency program
  • Mentor faculty and contribute to medical student and resident education
  • Collaborate across a large, integrated healthcare system serving over one million patients

You’ll be based at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital, a 763-bed Level I Trauma Center and academic hub, with opportunities to extend care across a regional network of hospitals and clinics.

Academic & Innovation Environment

Carilion Clinic is deeply integrated with:

  • Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine (VTCSOM)
  • Fralin Biomedical Research Institute at VTC
  • Virginia Tech and Radford Carilion University

You’ll have access to meaningful teaching opportunities, collaborative research, and the ability to help shape the next generation of physicians—all while holding a faculty appointment at VTCSOM.

  • Physician-led, not-for-profit, nationally recognized integrated health system serving nearly one million Virginians
