Job description
A full-time Locum-to-Perm Otolaryngologist opportunity is available with MercyOne Des Moines Medical Center in Des Moines.
This position includes both inpatient hospital coverage in Des Moines and clinic coverage in Clive. The practice provides comprehensive ENT services and serves patients throughout Central Iowa, including outreach areas such as Boone County, Indianola, and Pleasant Hill.
This is a full-time (1.0 FTE) opportunity for experienced, board-certified ENT physicians seeking a long-term permanent fit.
Job Responsibilities
• Perform full spectrum otolaryngology procedures
• Participate in hospital call rotation
• Collaborate with nursing and ancillary staff
• Deliver efficient, high-volume outpatient care
• Support teaching initiatives as applicable
• Inpatient and outpatient coverage
• Hospital coverage in Des Moines
• Clinic coverage in Clive
• Clinic daily volume: 30+ patients
• 15-minute appointment slots
• Physician-to-nurse ratio: 1:1
• Ancillary staff support: 1:1
• 2–3 exam rooms per provider
• All ENT procedures offered
• Imaging, lab, and pharmacy services available within building
• Teaching opportunities available
• EMR: Epic
Qualifications
• Active Iowa license or Active IMLC (LOQ required at name clear)
• Full-time availability required
• Must be experienced
• Clean malpractice and background history required
• NPDB Self-Query (within 30 days) required at presentation
• Must be open to permanent placement (attestation required)
Working Hours
• Combination of clinic hours, OR time, and call coverage
• Locum-to-Perm structure
• 1.0 FTE (Full-Time)
• 36 patient contact hours per week
• Clinic Hours: 7:30 AM – 5:00 PM
• Clinic Days: Monday–Friday
• Procedure/OR days scheduled based on OR availability
• On-call duties included in call rotation
