Job Responsibilities
Provide 24-hour call coverage for ER consults, established patients & post-ops
Perform ENT surgeries: tubes, tonsils, biopsies, scopes, laryngoscopies
See patients in clinic for post-op care, ear cleaning, acute needs
Support clinic volume (avg. 15–25 patients/day)
Collaborate with on-site team including nursing and audiologist support
Utilize Epic EMR for all documentation
Qualifications
Board Certified in Otolaryngology (ENT) – Required
Fellowship Trained – Required
Active Iowa License or valid IMLC license – Required
5+ years of ENT experience – Preferred
Comfortable with ENT clinic care and basic ENT surgeries (tubes, tonsils, scopes, biopsies)
Familiarity with Epic EMR – Preferred
Ability to manage inpatient & outpatient settings
Strong communication and team collaboration skills
Working Hours
Shift Length: 24-hour call coverage
Clinic Days: 3–5 days/week
Shifts per Month: Avg. 7
Clinic Hours:
Mon–Thu: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Fri: 8:00 AM – 3:00 PM
Procedure/OR Days: Fridays
Ideal Coverage: 2 consecutive weeks at a time (flexible for July–Nov)
Skills
Proficient in ENT surgical procedures: tubes, tonsillectomies, biopsies, scopes, direct laryngoscopies
Skilled in acute and post-op patient care
Strong clinical decision-making in both outpatient and inpatient settings
Ability to handle 24-hour call coverage effectively
Comfortable with high patient volumes (15–25/day)
Competent in using Epic EMR
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Collaborative approach with nursing and ancillary staff
Organized and able to manage time independently during call and clinic hours
