Indian Health Service–affiliated facilities are seeking Optometrists to provide comprehensive primary eye care to diverse patient populations ranging from infants to elders. These are long-term opportunities with flexible schedules and meaningful community impact.
📍 Open Position:
🔹 Optometrist

Duration: 1 year

Start: As soon as credentialed

Schedule: Full-time or 1 week on / 1 week off
Clinic Overview
-
Patient volume: 10–14 patients/day
-
Appointment length: 15–45 minutes (age/case dependent)

Population: All ages (infant to geriatric)
-
No ophthalmology onsite (nearest >100 miles)
Clinical Scope
-
Primary eye care & urgent visits
-
Glaucoma, macular degeneration, uveitis
-
Diabetic retinopathy management
-
Post-op care & ocular trauma
-
In-office procedures including:
-
Lash epilation
-
Punctal dilation/irrigation
-
Corneal & conjunctival foreign body removal

Bandage contact lenses, pressure patching
-
Staffing & Equipment
-
1 Optometrist, 1 receptionist, 1 optical tech

No exam support staff – Optometrist performs all testing

Equipment includes:

Phoropter, slit lamp, eye chart, exam chair
