ATC West Healthcare Services is seeking a Locum Primary Care - Family Practice Physician to provide temporary coverage in a rural practice located in southeastern Virginia. This role involves outpatient-only care across all age groups, with no hospital or call responsibilities. The position is needed to ensure continuity of care while the practice is without a full-time provider.

Dates / Schedule

• Coverage Period: December 2025 – Mid-January 2026

• Schedule: 3 eight-hour shifts per week

• Call Requirements: None

• Credentialing Timeframe: 30–45 days

Job Details & Responsibilities

• Setting: Rural outpatient primary care practice

• Patient Volume: ~20 patients per day

• Patient Population: Adult, pediatric, newborn, geriatric

• Support Staff:

  • No other on-site physicians or mid-levels

  • Virtual support from other internal medicine providers possible

  • On-site behavioral health provider available

• Facility Info:

  • 6 exam rooms

  • Services on-site: Laboratory, POC testing, phlebotomy

  • Emergency equipment: Defibrillator, airway support

• EMR: Epic

Required Procedures:

• Adult & Pediatric: General outpatient care, newborn care (>2000g)

• Gynecology: Pelvic exams/Pap smears (helpful, not required)

• Minor Surgical: Suturing minor lacerations, incision & drainage

• Psychiatric: Uncomplicated adult cases (onsite BH support)

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Board Certified or Board Eligible in Family Medicine – Required

• Active Virginia Medical License at Time of Submission – Required

• BLS Certification – Required

• Experience with Epic EMR – Preferred

• Comfortable working independently in a rural practice setting
