Seeking a Board-Certified Physician to serve as an Onsite Physician Advisor supporting Care Management and Clinical Documentation Integrity (CDI) in Shreveport, Louisiana. This Monday–Friday administrative role includes no call responsibilities and offers an excellent opportunity for a physician to help shape quality improvement and utilization practices within a mission-driven health care environment.

Job Responsibilities

Utilization Management (20%)
Lead and support the Utilization Review Committee in partnership with the Care Management Director
Conduct secondary status reviews and peer-to-peer discussions with payer medical directors
Track and optimize key utilization metrics (e.g., denial trends, observation vs. inpatient LOS, Condition Code 44 utilization)

Physician & Staff Education (15%)
Provide training on regulatory compliance, level of care determinations, and community resource utilization
Educate and support physicians and clinical teams in working effectively with CDI specialists and case management
Mentor case managers and support clinical leadership through documentation improvement efforts

Care Management Support (50%)
Join daily interdisciplinary rounds to accelerate patient throughput and care alignment
Assist ED and inpatient teams with accurate status determination upon admission
Work with payers to resolve medical necessity concerns, facilitate approvals, and reduce denials
Participate in reviews of long-stay cases and handle non-coverage notices as needed
Maintain detailed documentation in accordance with internal review policies

Clinical Documentation Integrity (15%)
Provide structured feedback and case-specific education to providers to improve documentation practices
Support accurate MS-DRG assignment through collaboration with CDI professionals
Promote the role of documentation in advancing patient outcomes and revenue cycle performance

Qualifications

MD or DO with an active Louisiana Medical License (or eligibility to obtain)

Board Certification in a clinical specialty is required

Minimum of 5 years of clinical experience in an acute care setting

Demonstrated understanding of utilization review, payer policy, and clinical documentation strategies

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

Working Hours

Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM

Work Setting: 100% Onsite, Administrative Position
