Job description Staff Orthopedic Surgeon

Location: Brattleboro, Vermont Position Type: Full-Time, Permanent (W-2)

Position Overview
  • Role: Staff Orthopedic Surgeon

  • Practice Type: Hospital-employed Orthopedics team

  • Focus: Comprehensive musculoskeletal care across the full continuum (evaluation through post-op follow-up)

  • Employment Model: Full-time only

  • Call: Rotating on-call coverage as part of the orthopedic service

Candidate Eligibility & Restrictions
  • Must live within 1 hour commuting distance

  • No visa candidates

  • No locums or locums-to-perm

  • Not open to candidates working this role alongside another position

  • Full-time commitment required

Clinical Responsibilities
  • Diagnose and evaluate orthopedic conditions using:

    • Physical exams

    • Medical history

    • Diagnostic imaging (X-ray, MRI, CT)

  • Develop individualized treatment plans (surgical and non-surgical)

  • Perform a broad range of orthopedic procedures, including:

    • Joint replacements

    • Fracture repairs

    • Arthroscopy

    • Other orthopedic surgical interventions

  • Provide pre-operative and post-operative care

  • Ensure patient safety, recovery, and optimal outcomes

  • Maintain accurate and timely medical documentation

  • Communicate clearly with patients, families, and care teams

  • Collaborate with:

    • Primary care providers

    • Physical therapists

    • Occupational therapists

    • Rehabilitation specialists

  • Participate in ongoing professional development and CME

  • Practice evidence-based medicine and stay current with advancements in orthopedic surgery
