Overview
We are seeking a Board Certified Orthopedic Surgeon for locum 24-hour emergency call coverage with potential for ongoing needs. This role requires broad orthopedic trauma experience, with a strong emphasis on hip nailing procedures and comprehensive surgical coverage.
Practice Highlights

24-hour emergency call coverage (7a–7a)

Adult, pediatric, and geriatric patient population

Hospital-based orthopedic surgery and trauma coverage

EMR: EPIC
-
Broad case mix including trauma, joint replacement, spine, and arthroscopy

Potential for ongoing locum coverage
Candidate Requirements
-
Board Certified in Orthopedic Surgery – Required
-
Active Kentucky license or IMLC – Required
-
Active DEA – Required
-
BLS certification – Required
-
Must be able to perform hip nailing procedures – Required
-
General surgical and non-surgical orthopedic procedures – Required
-
Hip and knee replacement procedures – Required
-
Hip and knee repair or revision procedures – Required
-
Arthroscopy experience – Required
-
Orthopedic fellowship training – Preferred
-
COVID vaccination – Preferred
-
Clean background – Required
-
NPDB Self-Query (dated within the last 30 days) required at presentation
Schedule & Coverage
-
Open dates: 4/3 (7a) – 4/13 (7a)

Additional dates available with potential ongoing coverage
-
24-hour call shifts with call-back
-
2–4 gratis hours preferred for 24-hour rate
Scope of Practice
-
Orthopedic trauma including hip nailing, fracture management, dislocations, amputations, deformities, and bone/joint tumors
-
Total joint replacement, revision, and repair (hip, knee, shoulder)
-
Spine surgery (cervical, thoracic, lumbar – with and without instrumentation)
-
Arthroscopic procedures
