This opportunity is for an experienced orthopedic physician to provide locums coverage at a small rural community hospital with a Level III trauma center. The role requires independent, full-scope general orthopedic coverage for both the emergency department and inpatient consultations. Candidates must be actively practicing and not newly graduated without recent clinical activity.

Coverage Dates: February 13–15 (ending the morning of February 16)

Job Details & Responsibilities

Provide 24/7 orthopedic coverage for the emergency department and inpatient consultations

Perform full general orthopedic procedures; higher-acuity cases are transferred to a tertiary facility to the north

Practice setting: Community Hospital

72 licensed beds
-
Level III trauma center

EMR: Cerner

Support Staff: Operating Room team available

Required Skills & Qualifications
-
Board Certified or Board Eligible in Orthopedics

Active California medical license
-
Completion of an ACGME- or AOA-accredited residency

DEA license (required during credentialing)

California Fluoroscopy Certificate (required by start of coverage)

Actively working at a facility (not straight out of residency with no activity)

Clean malpractice history (highly preferred)

No negative credentialing issues or NPDB reports

NPDB Self-Query report dated within 30 days of presentation

Ability to complete locums credentialing (approximately 30 days, potentially faster)

Comfortable working in a rural setting with independent decision-making
