Overview:
A small rural community hospital in Northern California is seeking a locum Orthopedic Surgeon for short-term coverage. The role includes 24/7 ED coverage and inpatient consultations with a full general orthopedic scope. Higher-acuity cases are transferred to a tertiary facility.

Responsibilities:

• Provide 24/7 orthopedic coverage for ED and inpatient consults

• Perform full general orthopedic procedures

• Evaluate and manage trauma and non-trauma orthopedic cases

• Collaborate with hospital staff and OR team

• Document care in the electronic medical record

Facility Details:

• 72 licensed beds

• Level III trauma designation

• OR and support staff available

Requirements:

• Board Certified or Board Eligible in Orthopedic Surgery

• Active California medical license

• DEA (required during credentialing)

• California fluoroscopy certificate (required by coverage dates)

• Clean NPDB and credentialing history

• Must be actively practicing (not right out of residency)

• Fly into Sacramento; approximately 2-hour drive to Red Bluff

• Preferred lodging: standard business-class hotels
